Suspension 0n Mail Application
2007-01-26

The Consulate General of the People"s Republic of China (hereafter referred as Chinese Consulate general) has been dealing with mail applications of visa, document authentication and passport renew from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Northwest Territories in recent years, which did provide convenience to some applicants , but many problems came out consequently. For instance: no or not enough fee attached , invalid check, no photo, incorrectly filled application form, no prepaid return envelope which should be self-addressed and sometimes no passport for visa application. Further more, some mails were lost or to a wrong address. All mentioned above caused troubles to both applicants and Chinese Consulate General. In order to avoid such things happening again, referring to the common practice of other countries, Chinese Consulate General decides to suspend mail application from 26 March 2007. In the two transitional months before then, Chinese Consulate General will still accept mail application done properly.

Those who need to send applications to Chinese Consulate General can do in the following ways:

1. Come to Chinese Consulate General personally for application

2. Entrust your representative or local travel agent to send the application to Chinese Consulate General

3. Applicants for notarization, live certification or passport changes should still come in person.

In order to solve the difficulties from part of applicants, Chinese Consulate General is going to provide more items of service. Please pay attention to the future notice.

Chinese Consulate General would like to thank you for your understanding about the inconvenience caused by above changes.

Consulate General of the People"s Republic of China,

Calgary,

26 January 2007
